Board of Directors


Michael Eberhardt

Michael Eberhardt is Chief Executive Officer of Hannover Re Capital Partners (HCP) and Chief Underwriting Officer for Hannover Re Bermuda’s P&C portfolio, including global responsibility for natural catastrophe business. His leadership in Bermuda ensures close alignment between HCP’s underwriting activities and Hannover Re’s established standards, providing investors with disciplined access to risk, market-leading expertise, and robust portfolio construction.

He brings over 20 years of international experience in reinsurance and capital markets, having held senior leadership roles across Europe, Australia, and Bermuda. Most recently, he served as CEO of Hannover Re’s Australian branch, where he drove significant business growth and built a high-performing organization.

Michael holds an MBA (Dipl.-Kfm.), is a CFA charterholder and CPCU designee, and is fluent in German, English, and Spanish.

Patrick Horstmann

Patrick Horstmann is a Managing Director at Hannover Re and Head of the Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS) team. He is responsible for Hannover Re’s global ILS business across P&C and L&H, focusing on transferring reinsurance risks to capital markets. He also serves as a Director of Hannover Re Capital Partners.

Patrick has been with the ILS team since 2011, initially focusing on L&H transactions. He joined Hannover Re in 2006 as a client relationship manager for Western Europe in L&H reinsurance and gained international experience through assignments in Stockholm and Ireland.

He holds a degree in mathematics, an Executive MBA from EuroMBA, and is a qualified actuary and member of the German Actuarial Society (DAV).

Patrick Fee

Patrick Fee is Director of Hannover Re Capital Partners and President of Hannover Finance, Inc., a U.S. since 2006. He also serves on the boards of several Hannover Re-affiliated companies, including Glencar Insurance Company and Glencar Underwriting Managers.

Prior to joining Hannover Re, he was a partner at the law firm Foley & Lardner, LLP, specializing in insurance regulatory and corporate matters. He also served as President and CEO of Clarendon National Insurance Company until its sale in 2011.

Patrick holds an AB from the University of Chicago and a JD from Harvard Law School, both with honors.

Andrew Hughes

Andrew Hughes is an Independent Non-Executive Director of Hannover Re Capital Partners with extensive international experience across reinsurance, alternative capital, and financial services. A triple-qualified lawyer, he combines strong technical expertise with a proven track record in building and scaling investment platforms.

Most recently, he served as CEO of PartnerRe Capital Management in Bermuda, where he expanded assets under management across sidecar and fund structures focused on property catastrophe and short-tail reinsurance. He previously held senior roles at Hiscox ILS, QIC, and international law firms. His expertise includes structured reinsurance, capital markets, governance, and regulatory frameworks, supporting institutional investors.

Aaron Garcia

Aaron Garcia is Head of Capital and Underwriting at Hannover Re Capital Partners. He is responsible for developing and managing ILS investment strategies, with a focus on underwriting, portfolio construction, capital formation, and platform development. He joined HCP in 2026, bringing more than eight years of experience from Hiscox ILS, where he held senior investment and portfolio management roles and contributed to scaling the partner capital business. His work included the design and execution of ILS strategies across catastrophe bonds, collateralized reinsurance, and sidecar structures. Earlier in his career, Aaron held reinsurance broking and underwriting roles at JLT and Novae. He holds a BA (Hons) in Business Administration from IESIDE and Cardiff University, is a CFA and CPCU charterholder, and completed the Program for Leadership Development at Harvard Business School.
